Overview of KASE's equity market in April 2022

/KASE, May 4, 2022/ – Kazakhstan Stock Exchange (KASE) presents to you an
overview of the equity market in April 2022.
The value of KASE index in April decreased by 9.41 % and amounted to
3,033.48 points by the end of the month. In total, since the beginning of the
year, the local equity market has sank by 17.46 % and recorded the fourth
consecutive month of decline.

The volume of deals in index shares in April 2022 amounted to 2.8 billion tenge,
which is by 72.0 %, or 7.14 billion tenge, lower than in March 2022.
The largest volume of trades fell on common shares of Halyk Savings Bank of
Kazakhstan JSC – KZT1.0 bn (35.5 % of the total volume of trades with index
shares).
From May 5, KASE Index calculation will include common shares of Kaspi.kz.
Securities of Kaspi.kz closed April with growth. Depositary receipts for the
group's shares rose by 32.1 %, while common shares rose by 4.6%. On April 25,
the company reported a 49 % increase in quarterly profit. As part of the report,
it was also announced that the Board of Directors had approved a GDR buyback
program for up to $100 million.

Common shares of Halyk Bank fell by 7.4%, while GDRs for shares of Halyk
Bank added 1.8% in price over the month. On April 13, Halyk Bank, under an
assignment agreement, bought out part of the portfolio of the subsidiary bank
Sberbank of Russia in the amount of 330 billion tenge. On April 21, the Board of
Directors of the Bank decided to place three-year bonds in the amount of
USD200 million with a coupon rate of 2.5% per annum on the AIX floor. On April
22, the annual meeting of shareholders of Halyk Bank took place, at which it was
decided not to pay dividends for 2021. At the same time, commenting on the
results of the shareholders' meeting, the bank's management notes that the Bank
may return to this issue in the second half of 2022 as the situation stabilizes.
Rating agencies Fitch and Moody's in April confirmed the ratings of the Bank at
the sovereign level, these are the highest ratings among private banks in
Kazakhstan.
The only representative of the index basket that closed the month in the green
zone were common shares of Bank CenterCredit, which rose in price by 1.4%.
On April 20, Alfa-Bank's Kazakh subsidiary announced that it had reached an
agreement with Bank CenterCredit to sell all its common shares to it. According
to the Bank, on May 20 the annual general meeting of its shareholders will
consider the issue of approving the draft agreement on merger of Alfa-Bank
(Kazakhstan) with Bank CenterCredit JSC.
Common shares of Kazakhtelecom ended April with a slight decrease. A positive
trend for these shares has been formed since April 12. It is also worth adding
that earlier the Board of Directors of the company recommended the payment of
record annual dividends in the amount of 3,590.39 tenge per share, which
corresponds to a dividend yield of 11.5% per annum. The annual meeting of
shareholders to approve the distribution of net income was supposed to be held
on April 29, but was postponed due to the lack of a quorum.
Meanwhile, shares of subsidiary Kcell, which were the strongest throughout the
first quarter, were down 17.6 % in April. On April 28, the operator provided a
quarterly report, according to which the company's net profit increased by
29.1%. During the Issuer Day at KASE, the management of the companies explained
that a number of external factors influenced the decline.
Along with Kcell, shares of KEGOC and KazTransOil showed double-digit decline
rates in April. Both companies posted reports with net income lower than last
year and disappointed investors with decisions on dividend payments. As a
result, shares of KazTransOil lost 21.1% since the beginning of the month, and
shares of KEGOC – 10.6 %.
KASE equity market :
At the end of April 2022, the capitalization of the equity market amounted to
23.0 trillion tenge (51.3 billion USD), which is by 0.3 trillion tenge, or
1.5 %, lower than the same indicator of the previous month. The main share of the
decline fell on index companies due to the adjustment of the price of their
shares, while the decrease was partially offset by an increase in the price of
Kaspi.kz shares.
As of the end of April, shares of 166 titles of 147 issuers were listed on KASE,
of which shares of three titles of three issuers were admitted to circulation
in the "Unlisted securities" sector. Airbus common shares were included in the
"KASE Global" sector of KASE official list in the reporting month.
