/KASE, June 8, 12/ - KAZAKHMYS PLС (London), shares of which are officially
listed on Kazakhstan Stock Exchange (KASE), provided to KASE the following
press release of June 8, 2012:

On June 7, in Astana, within official visit of President Vladimir Putin to
Kazakhstan, was signed the agreement between Kazakhmys Group and Russian
company RusGidro on cooperation in the area of hydropower engineering. The
document was signed by Kazakhmys Group Director General Oleg Novachuk and
Chairman of RusGidro Management Board Yevgeni Dod.
The agreement stipulates creation of the joint venture for construction
in Kazakhstan hydropower engineering objects with the capacity up to 300
megawatt. Before the agreement signing Akimat of Almaty Oblast studied
minor rivers of Kazakhstan. As a result, defined potential platforms for
construction of small hydropower stations.
At the initial phase, Kazakhmys and RusGidro intend to study possible
construction in Almaty Oblast of seven small hydropower stations with
the total capacity about 108 megawatt. In the future, the companies plan
construction of additional station to achieve the capacity of small
hydropower stations up to 300 megawatt.
