On July 1, 2003, the Information Agency of Financial Markets IRBIS Held the Round Table Meeting on the Topic "New Law "On Joint Stock Companies": Problems and Solutions."

Moderators of the round table: the author of the draft law initial version, Ex-Chairman of the National Commission on Securities of the Republic of Kazakhstan, President of Kazakhstan Stock Exchange Azamat Joldasbekov; one of the active draft law designers, Head of Department of Legal Department of the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan Natalia Maksimova; Acting Head of Division of Department on Regulation of Issue and Circulation of Serial Securities of Department of Financial Control of the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan Almira Tlepova; lawyer, business expert of NAK Tsentraudit-Kazakhstan LLP Anatoli Lobkov.

The round table participants were representatives of registrars, large issuers, banks, brokerage and dealer companies, companies on pension assets management, and the mass media reporters.

During the round table, moderators told the history of the draft law development, explained reasons why the draft law was developed and what goals were pursued. the meeting participants were explained key specifics of the new law "On Joint Stock Companies." The round table moderators answered numerous questions, arouse in interested persons in the process of the new law implementation, and listened to participants' concerns regarding shortcomings of certain norms of the law. At the meeting were expressed wishes to speed up adoption of the number of legislative documents, without which the new law implementation is hampered or impossible.

In participants' opinion, in general the round table meeting was constructive and useful for both moderators and participants.
